Minimize Outlook to System Tray
Like most applications Microsoft Outlook will normally minimize to the taskbar. This setting changes the default behavior so that it will minimize to the system tray (next to the clock) instead.
Warning: Before using Registry Editor, please make sure you take the backup of the registry. Please test this in lab environment, before implementing in a live/production environment. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to re-install Windows to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk
Open your registry and find the appropriate key below.
Outlook 2016-[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Preferences]
Outlook 2010-[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Preferences]
Outlook 2007-[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Preferences]
Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called "MinToTray" and set the value "1" as shown below.
Exit your registry; you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.
